Design to Last a Lifetime
SERA HELSINKI was born from a love for design and a desire to create a better future. Our roots lie in Scandinavian design, and they intertwine with Ethiopian craftsmanship heritage and the empowerment of people. But let’s face it – even the most ethical object is not worth producing if it isn’t desirable and durable. For us, the design is more than just decoration and that’s why SERA HELSINKI’s designers have created timeless and functional products that serve as a tool for creating a more inclusive future. That’s what we call inclusive design.
Our collections have both knotted and woven rugs which are made using different techniques. Every rug is unique. All sheep are different in colour and every weaver works in a different way so there are no two identical rugs.
Timeless companionship
When properly taken care of, SERA HELSINKI handmade rugs will last a lifetime – or couple. In addition to our timeless designs, wool material is very durable, naturally anti-bacterial, and dirt-wicking, allowing the creation of exceptionally lasting rugs. SERA HELSINKI rugs and towels can decompose safely at the end of their lifecycle as they contain only natural wool and cotton fibers, and we never use harmful chemicals.

The production chain of SERA HELSINKI products is fully transparent from the beginning to the end. We know the origin of our natural and organic materials. We monitor the whole production process from sheep-herding to thread-spinning and rug-weaving closely. We provide videos and images for our customers of their very own rug’s crafting process to prove this.
